Our Charitable Partnership with Luminary Bakery
We place huge importance on choosing to ‘give back’ as a business, and so from the outset we decided to share our profits with a charity that would use our donations to help change the lives of others.
Our charitable partner is Luminary Bakery – a London based charity that provides opportunities for women to build a future for themselves. They have a safe and professional environment where women can grow holistically – encouraging ambition, restoration and second chances. They use baking as a tool to take women on a journey to employability and entrepreneurship, equipping them with transferrable skills for the working world. Luminary offer courses, work experience and paid employment within the bakery, empowering women to build their career. By investing in and releasing them to realise women’s dreams, through training, employment and community, we aim to break the generational cycles of abuse, prostitution, criminal activity and poverty.
With every purchase of Little by Little jewellery we donated sufficient funds to enable a disadvantaged woman to train at the bakery for a day, building her career.
Sustainability at Little by Little
Little by Little Jewellery’s key sustainable values lie in the championing of transparent, responsible, (both socially and environmentally) and revealing supply chains. We not only want to create beautiful jewellery; we also want to make a positive impact through its production.
Transparency in production
Our collections are designed by Annabel Cox in the UK and created by a well-established jewellery producer in Lima, Peru. The Peruvian factory has been running for 32 years and employs 350 people. From its inception its aim was to bring opportunity and employment, and it does this by giving jobs to people with no prior technical experience, training them in the art of jewellery production. Annabel has visited the factory and is satisfied that it is a safe, well-equipped and spacious place to work.
Our materials
We use local Peruvian silver, some of which is recycled, in the creation of our collections. The virgin metal used is supplied by companies with environmental certification that meet with strict Labour standards and comply with human rights laws.
Our ethical goal for 2021 is to strive for closed-loop production and find a 100% traceable source of Peruvian silver. This will further enable us to support local miners and communities, whilst reducing our environmental impact.
The packaging we use for our jewellery is 100% recycled and made in the UK.
Re-Vamp Re-Wear Re-Use
In a bid to make our jewellery zero waste, Little by Little offers our customers the chance to repair any damages or breakages. We work closely with a London studio (who can fix just about anything) and we will oversee the repair.
If the item is purchased less than 12 months ago, please get in contact with us. We will be able to give you an estimate of the costs involved and you simply let us know if you want to go ahead.
